This
summer we completed the sale and installation of two MT 3 blade
reversing propellers on LA-4-200 aircraft, one in Alaska and the
other one in Toronto.
If anyone wants a Renegade because it sounds smooth you can now
have the same effect for a lot less money. Inside and
outside, 3 blades make it sound like a Renegade and 3 blades are
smoother from a vibration standpoint. The installation is
simple with no weight change.
This propeller is exactly what the Lake has been missing all
along.
Imagine getting into your Lake while it's nosed up to the shore
or dock, getting everyone seated then you start the engine with
the reversing switch on the panel selected reverse. You
have a panel light warning you have reverse selected.
When the aircraft is started in reverse the propeller is in bata
position, you sit there not moving and allowing the engine to
warm up. When you're ready to leave the shore or dock,
lower the water rudder and advance the throttle, the aircraft
starts backing away from shore with full rudder directional
control. When you're ready to go forward simply select panel
switch to forward and you now have a conventional system.
The selection from forward to reverse and back is very
responsive. The propeller in reverse is powerful enough to
back the aircraft on land, you just can't control
direction. Take off with a 3 blade propeller has always
shown improved acceleration at low speeds and on the Lake with
so much of the propeller blanketed by the cowling it's easy to
visualize why 3 blades on a 74" propeller will improve
performance, at least at slow speeds or getting on the step.
Everyone with a reversing propeller will have to see how fast
they can stop on landing. With this system you can stop
right now, land or water. A little problem with stopping
fast on the water while on the step, the reverse thrust kicks up
a lot of spray in front of the aircraft.
The system is designed so it won't go into reverse while in
flight and controlled by RPM and pitot pressure.
We are offering to accept
original propeller and governor on trade when the MT STD'd prop
is installed. The cost of propeller is $16,965.00 USD plus
approximately $580.00 USD shipping and installation cost of $550.00
USD.
