Equipment and Modifications: Instruments

INSTRUMENT PANEL CHANGE

The new instrument panel layout is the EP panel with the radios mounted to the right of center. This allows for a conventional 'T' style instrument arrangement and provides additional space for auto-pilot and instrument installations. The separate lower switch panel on earlier models is eliminated giving you another 2" of leg room. Extra cost may be involved with a center-mounted hydraulic pump and/or two defrost fans.

GLARE SHIELD

RENEGADE STYLE
The glare shield improves the instrument panel styling and eliminates much of the reflection from panel lighting experienced while flying at night. More importantly, the shield keeps water entering under the hatch, from running down onto the avionics.

GLARE SHIELD WITH PANEL LIGHTING KIT

This system has rheostat controlled white lighting mounted inside the glare shield to light the instruments from above for enhanced readability. Price includes glare shield and rheostat control.

INSTRUMENT EYEBROW LIGHTING

This kit installs individual lights at each non-lighted instrument and is controlled by a rheostat. If you are doing a lot of night flying, these or the glare shield lighting are a must.

WEATHER AVOIDANCE SYSTEM

.
The Strike Finder by Insight Avionics is the most up-to-date weather scope on the market. With 360 degree coverage, the pilot can select ranges of 25, 50, 100 and 200 miles. This unit also gives a time lapse rendition of recent electrical activity with up to 4000 strikes replayed in a matter of seconds giving you a graphic picture of weather movements and changes of intensity. Mounting is a standard 3 1/8 inch instrument hole. Can be gyro-stabilized by your HSI. Gyro Stabilization extra. Installation extra.

MIXTURE MONITOR

We recommend the installation of the Insight mixture monitor for optimum efficiency. This instrument gives you a simultaneous reading on all cylinder head temperatures and all exhaust gas temperatures making it invaluable for detecting engine problems early. When combined with the FP-5 or FP-5L fuel flow analyzer, you should get an additional hour of range through more efficient fuel management. Installation extra.

DIGITAL ENGINE TACHOMETER

Horizon Instruments P-1000 replaces the mechanical tachometer and eliminates the associated problems. LCD display with LED warning lights for overspeed and magneto malfunctions. Includes an clock function as well. Utilizes a standard 3 1/8 inch panel opening. Installation extra.

EI DIGITAL RPM INSTRUMENT

Electronics International solid state instrument replaces your mechanical tachometer. This is a primary replacement instrument. Provides accuracy within 10 RPM and features recording of flight time, tach time, and peak rpm. Colored LED’s display normal range, caution range, and maximum rpm warning. Utilizes a 2¼ inch panel opening to yield more panel space complete with cap.  Installation extra.

DIGITAL FUEL FLOW/HORSEPOWER

With the Electronics International Inc. FP-5 or FP5L Fuel Flow Totalizer, you maintain absolute fuel management control. The FP5L has GPS or Loran interface. Both have optional fuel pressure read out. Reads fuel being consumed, total amount of fuel used and fuel remaining. Optional fuel pressure accurately shows fuel pressure and warns of high or low pressure with LED’s complete with extra length lead wires for Lake installation. Installation extra.

MANIFOLD PRESSURE INSTRUMENT

Accurately display and set engine manifold pressure within 0.1 inch of mercury. This is a primary replacement instrument. Compact 2¼ inch instrument saves panel space and connects to a standard pressure line. Small size may allow mounting on the left side of the Lake panel. Colored LED’s inform the pilot of normal operating ranges and warn when pre-set limits are exceeded. It is complete with extra lead wires for installation in Lake aircraft. Backlit for night use. Installation extra.

OIL PRESSURE / OIL TEMPERATURE

This single 2¼ inch instrument replaces both existing oil pressure and oil temperature gauges. This is a primary replacement instrument. Installs with external transducers eliminating oil lines running through the cabin area. Display resolution to 1 psi and 1 degree F. Colored LED’s draw attention to abnormal readings increasing safety and reducing the pilot workload. Backlit for night operations. It is complete with extra lead wires for installation in Lake aircraft. Installation extra.

VOLTAGE / AMPERAGE INSTRUMENT

Displays both voltage and amperage in a single 2¼ inch instrument to within 0.1 volt and 0.1 amp. Features warning LED’s to indicate high voltage and discharge. This is a primary replacement instrument complete with internal shunt. Backlit for night operation. Installation extra.

VOICE ANNUNCIATOR AV-17

The Voice Annunciator from Electronics International can provide from one to seventeen verbal warnings through your headset. The AV-17 ends the need to constantly scan instruments. The instant a monitored alarm occurs, the Voice Annunciator will chime in the headset and a pleasant female voice will announce a phrase, such as “Check Oil Pressure,” or “Check Altitude.” This unit is designed to connect to most Electronics International instruments. Installation extra.
