Ed McNeil from New York tells us what to expect from Elton's Wing Fairing Kit....

Elton Townsend at Lake Central (705-687-4343) in Ontario has been installing a simple fibreglass wing fairing kit to the leading edge/fuselage joint for all Lake models.

We have now installed the kit on our Renegade and the difference is unbelievable. The kit was inexpensive and only took about three hours to install, plus a couple hours to paint, (the fibreglass is delivered white).

These simple wing fairings add about 150/200 feet per minute climb. You might think I'm exaggerating or that this is wishful think, but happily, it is true. You'll notice the difference first in that the airplane feels lighter at rotation from the runway, and it continues acceleration more rapidly before gear-up.

Then after the gear is up, the airplane accelerates to 85 knots before I get the flaps up, and then to 90 knots and 650-700 fpm after flap retraction and power reduction with full fuel and two people with baggage on a 66-degree day!

Obviously, drag reduction is significant.
Run, don't walk, to Lake Central!
